Looking for reminders from Google Workspace? They have moved to a new app
Keeping track of reminders in Google Workspace may be a bit trickier for a while as the platform moves alerts to the new app.
Online collaboration platform users have been informed that their Google Assistant and Google Calendar reminders will now be migrated to the company’s Google Tasks app.
The news was first announced in September 2022, along with the migration now in progress for Google Workspace users around the world as it aims to “create a single experience for managing tasks across Google.”
Google Tasks Migration
Originally launched in 2018, Google Tasks is one of Workspace’s most underrated tools, often unnoticed by many users, but now the company is looking to increase its prominence with a new move.
Now, Google Tasks will be directly integrated with Workspace apps like Gmail, Google Chat, and Calendar, meaning you can quickly complete and manage your to-do list as new tasks come up.
Users will be able to select the new “Add to Tasks” button in Gmail, create tasks directly from Google Chat, and create tasks in Google Calendar to ensure they have time to complete them.
Once created, all these tasks can be sorted into lists, prioritized via star selection, which can already be seen in Gmail and Google Drive, and completed tasks marked as satisfactory.
Google says that integrating Assistant and Calendar reminders into Tasks will make life much easier for users by allowing them to jot down suggestions or ideas hands-free. If you specify a date or time, your device will notify you when it’s time, so don’t forget.
The company says that anyone who wants a copy of their reminder data should get one before June 2022, with Keep reminders also remaining in the app but no longer appearing in the calendar.
After migration, users will be able to view their tasks by going to the Tasks calendar instead of the Reminders calendar. They can also go to Google Tasks or ask the Assistant to complete tasks.
