Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubiconthe next installment in FromSoftware’s long-running series of mech-based action games, is scheduled for release in 2023.
From the software Armored core 6 is a mech-based car fighting game where players will return to the devastated planet Rubicon 3 to fight as a mercenary for money and resources. It’s been 10 years since the last installment in this 15-game series, so we can’t wait to see how this latest entry harnesses the power of PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Armored core 6 will be released sometime in 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This is all we know at the moment, with a more specific date on hold until a future announcement.

Armored Core 6 reveal trailer (opens in a new tab) was unveiled at The Game Awards 2022.
This short trailer introduces the war theme and the new art style Armored core 6 while allowing us a glimpse of the ashed and desolate Rubicon 3 eponymous planet. We also see various mechs battling it out in what looked like a fight to the death for all with machine guns and EMP blazing.

Armored Core 6 history and setting
The Armored Core series is set in an apocalyptic future where corporations hire mercenaries to pilot giant mechanized robots that compete fiercely for prizes and resources.
Armored core 6 continues this mech-filled apocalypse. According to Bandai Namco website (opens in a new tab)The narrative of this upcoming title will center around a mysterious new substance found on the planet Rubicon 3. Initially seen as a brilliant source of energy, this substance became unstable and engulfed the planets and surrounding stars in flames.
Almost half a century later, the same substance reappeared on the contaminated planet and attracted the interest of many large corporations. You will be sent to Rubicon 3 as a mercenary to seize this source of power and fend off anyone who stands in your way.
Armored Core 6 gameplay
Armored core 6 is a “3D mech combat action game” where players “run freely around a 3D scene with slow and steady 3D maneuvers,” according to FromSoftware official website (opens in a new tab).
Mechs have always been an important part of the Armored Core series. Just like in the original games, players will have tremendous control over customizing their mechs. You can create original mechs by exchanging parts that can be purchased with money earned from mercenary missions.
There will also be a multiplayer mode “where you can customize your mech and take it into battle with others,” director armored core 6, Masaru Yamamura, said in an interview with IGN (opens in a new tab).

Soulsborne games were the “only obstacle” to prevention Armored core 6
It’s been 10 years since the release of the last Armored Core game and, in an interview with BNE live fun (opens in a new tab)producer Yasutaka Ogura explained why (opens in a new tab) FromSoftware has not released a new installment of the series before.
“It was never intended to leave such a large gap [between Armored Core games]Ogur said. “The only real obstacle […] was that our company always had so many different titles on the move.” So with all those pesky, critically acclaimed Soulsborne games, we’ve had to wait a decade for it Armored core 6.
